Great video again Victor keep them coming.
i herd about this story on attack of the show.
Slater6977 2008-08-13
because its a stereotype that assumes that all black people like grape soda its still offencive to assume something about someone else.
GlennsGuides 2008-08-13
Thanks for the comments Victor I'm hooked on your videos they are helping me a lot in learning the basics of the language. Lordblazer it is good that the African American people living in Japan and other foreign countries are speaking up because even though these countries I'm sure are aware of these issues they might be behind a little bit in what is offensive compared to other countries like the US that have struggled more with the issue a lot more.

OOps, meant to write not "Chibikuru Sampo," but "Chibikuro Sampo."
Would appreciate a response to my assertion that with issues such as this, as indeed in general, as I have asserted, "We learn as we go."
Warmest regards.
PS. cannot help but observe that chibishirokuro sampo is part of your daily routine. Although you may not regard Maggie as "chibi." Short of leg, but definitely, it seems to me, not without heft. LOL.

Since when does intent or ignorance justify actions? Name any major historical human rights issue and there is an intent and ignorance behind it, but it's not OK. With Obama's media attention, it should be known that US media would pick it up. With that knowledge, and the resources of a major company, research into how it would be perceived would go a long way. And your friend could have knew of the man's presence, making her actions more racist than you portray--plus, why would he hit a girl?
madclowns 2008-08-13
black poeple are offended by everything
imnot1000sure 2008-08-13
why is grape pop (soda) offending to black people???
RyRyVids 2008-08-13
Why are you stuttering???
teawead 2008-08-13
I'm totally with you but don't you think it hurts when someone treats you as an animal. The ad was no big deal but someone trowing bananas at you? now that hurts.
freedomwarrior43 2008-08-13
"YES WE CAN" raise taxes and lower the standard of living.
2of6Solutions 2008-08-13
IMO it is unlikely that everyone in this company that had anything to do with the ad, or getting the ad to air, are completely unaware of the first person of color to get this close to becoming president of America. For me the question is intention.
In Europe some soccer fans throw bananas at the black players on the field, when this happens its not only the people who throw the bananas laughing. Some say "I am not laughing at the racism I am laughing because it is funny." Its subjective.

Wow people are idiots - I'm with you on this. (And I'm voting for Obama)
AlphaIllum 2008-08-13

misterfisherman 2008-08-13
they shouldve parodied obama using tony blair
chimera15 2008-08-13
Ah, that's interesting, I thought softbank was actually a bank. lol
LaughingLeaf 2008-08-13
5/5!! Cool!
lordblazer 2008-08-13
because black people are typically called monkeys. Ever heard of the term "porch monkey."
I'm sorry to say this but black people should be sensitive to this shit. It was in bad taste on part of emobile as they were intentionally parodying Obama, and it was their mistake. No real foul was done, but you really should think before you make adverts parodying a US politician that is a person of colour.
lordblazer 2008-08-13
yea but they shouldn't have parodied Obama using a monkey. Sorry but the implications are clear. Especially when you see sambo images of Africans in that East Asia. Through adverts etc etc.
lordblazer 2008-08-13
Also I wouldn't be so sensitive to the issue if I didn't see so much hate against us(black people) all over the net. Youtube is a testament to this. I'm called the N-word by atleast 2 people when one of my videos starts to get comments. I'm sure people have thrown derogatory terms in your direction also. Point is everyday if it isn't A it is always B, and it's everyday. African Americans get no breaks from the hate.
lordblazer 2008-08-13
also grammar correction. I mean to say black people in the US have been so dehumanized in image that it's ridiculious. I had to type it incorrectly because of the ridiculious limit on character count they give us XD. But yea man I see your point. This is the mark of the 21st century where cultures are having to deal with new challenges of understanding one another.
lordblazer 2008-08-13
YOu should look into the history of black representation in the media. From Sambo to the coon. From the coon to the monkey. It's quite insulting and in one form or another black people in the US have been dehumanized that it's ridiculious. My friend who was from Japan said the first day he came to the states. The other japanese told him to avoid the black people as they rape, kill, and steal. In a sense the struggle still exist, but this is Japan. So the situation is different.
CupcakeAndTea 2008-08-13
it's funny though the US often says that about other countries but they themselves don't know too much about these countries either
MisterWeed 2008-08-13
Do you often experience the infamous Japanese xenophobia?
ElevenColors 2008-08-13
Random thought #1: How should Jewish people react to swastikas in Buddhist contexts?
#2: I wonder if Dr Seuss included any monkey imagery in the propaganda work he did during WWII?
#3: Pretty sure Docomo is number 1, but I can't find data.
#4: The way I heard it, Emobile intended it to be a tribute to Obama but didn't look before they kept.
#5: Tsutomu Sekine, Japan's Jay Leno, once said Africans sound dumb when they speak Japanese.
